High Court, Lucknow Bench advocate for clients across Uttar Pradesh

The Lucknow Bench hears cases from sixteen districts of Awadh, and several statewide tribunals and commissions sit in Lucknow. Clients from these districts, and from elsewhere in the State, can consult without travelling first.

Districts within the Lucknow Bench

Writ petitions, bail applications, criminal and civil appeals and other High Court matters arising in these districts are heard at the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, Lucknow Bench:

  • Lucknow
  • Barabanki
  • Hardoi
  • Lakhimpur Kheri
  • Sitapur
  • Unnao
  • Rae Bareli
  • Ayodhya
  • Ambedkar Nagar
  • Sultanpur
  • Amethi
  • Pratapgarh
  • Gonda
  • Bahraich
  • Balrampur
  • Shravasti

Matters from the remaining districts of Uttar Pradesh are heard at the principal seat at Prayagraj.

When only part of the case is connected with Lucknow

Where part of the cause of action arises within the Lucknow Bench's area and part outside it, the petition may in suitable cases be filed at Lucknow. The Supreme Court explained this in Nasiruddin v. State Transport Appellate Tribunal (1975). A common example is a challenge to an order passed by the State Government or a directorate headquartered in Lucknow. This needs to be checked on the facts before filing, because a petition filed at the wrong seat loses time.

How consultations work from another district

  1. Send the order, notice, FIR or judgment on WhatsApp with a few lines on what happened.
  2. We speak by phone or video call, in Hindi or English, and I tell you the right forum and the next step.
  3. Documents and affidavits are prepared and signed in the manner the court requires, and you receive updates after every listing.

Trial court matters in district courts outside Lucknow are discussed case by case.

Usually not for the first steps. Papers can be shared on WhatsApp or email and the consultation held by phone or video call. Affidavits must be sworn properly, and I explain how to do that from your district.
My district is not in the list. Can my case still be filed at Lucknow?
Possibly, if part of the cause of action arose within the Lucknow Bench's area, for example where the order you challenge was passed by the State Government or a directorate in Lucknow. Whether that applies depends on the facts and should be checked before filing.
