About Shivanshu K. Srivastava

I am an advocate enrolled with the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh since March 2022, practising mainly before the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, Lucknow Bench, and the courts and tribunals in Lucknow. My practice covers criminal, civil, property, family, service and writ matters, along with commercial and consumer disputes. I also advise institutions on legal policy, contracts, disciplinary matters and the Right to Information Act.

I studied law at the University of Lucknow (B.A. LL.B. Hons, 2016 to 2021) and completed my LL.M. at Banaras Hindu University (2021 to 2023), where my dissertation examined the constitutionality of the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act, 2022. I have qualified the UGC-NET in Law three times, with a highest score of 99.45 percentile, and I am currently pursuing a postgraduate diploma in cyber law at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow.

From October 2025 to August 2026 I taught Constitutional Law and Administrative Law as Assistant Professor (Law) at Babu Banarasi Das University, Lucknow. Teaching the doctrine that governs public authorities is close to the work I do in court every day: holding those authorities to their own rules.

I have written more than 150 published pieces, including journal articles, book chapters and columns in newspapers such as Hindustan Times, The Indian Express and The Statesman, and a column in Bar & Bench. I explain legal developments in plain language on my channel, Law with Shivanshu.

I work in Hindi and English, and I prefer to give clients a straight assessment of their matter, including when the better course is not to litigate.
