Criminal defence and bail in Lucknow

Bail, quashing and trial work under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, before the Sessions Courts at Lucknow and the High Court, Lucknow Bench.

Matters I handle

  • Anticipatory bail under Section 482 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS)
  • Regular bail before the Magistrate, the Sessions Court and the High Court
  • Quashing of FIRs, chargesheets and criminal proceedings under Section 528 of the BNSS
  • Matrimonial cruelty and dowry cases, including Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (formerly Section 498A IPC)
  • Cases under the NDPS Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act
  • Cheating, forgery, breach of trust and other economic offences
  • Cyber offences under the Information Technology Act, 2000
  • Private complaints to the Magistrate where the police do not register an FIR
  • Trials, criminal revisions and appeals

If an FIR has been registered against you

Get a copy of the FIR, note the sections invoked, and speak to a lawyer before you respond to any police notice. Whether to seek anticipatory bail, appear in response to a notice, or challenge the FIR itself depends on the sections and the facts alleged. What you do in the first few days often matters more than anything that follows.

If you are the complainant

Where the police will not register an FIR for a cognizable offence, the law provides further steps, including an application to the Superintendent of Police and a complaint before the Magistrate. I draft these so the facts and documents are on record from the start.

Bail before the High Court

When bail is refused by the Sessions Court, an application can be made to the High Court. A good bail application explains why custody is not needed: the nature of the allegations, the evidence collected, the time already spent in custody, and the conditions the accused is ready to accept.

Criminal matters move fast. For urgent bail matters, call rather than message.
